Birdies, Breakfast Burritos, and Building Bridges

It was wonderful to see so many of our EMBA-ers at the golf tournament on Friday! The EMBA had the most participants, with three out of six foursomes, and even took home the top prize: a foursome package to Haggin Oaks (each)! The Sac State Alumni Business Chapter did a fantastic job organizing this event at Woodcreek Golf Club, and even Mother Nature played nice and kept the heat under 100 degrees.

We’re very grateful to all the teams, whose participation proceeds will support student scholarships, and to our sponsors, who provided breakfast burritos, lunch, happy hour and more. It was a fun way to connect with other Sac State alumni and make some new friendships!

Reflections on the Business Alumni Board Golf Tournament

By Elena Dodi, EMBA VSP 3

Participating in the Business Chapter Golf Tournament was a remarkable experience filled with camaraderie, nostalgia, and the joy of golfing on a beautiful course. The event, meticulously organized by the Business Chapter board, provided a perfect blend of social interaction and sporting excitement.

We arrived at the golf course at 7 a.m., greeted warmly with tasty breakfast burritos and freshly brewed coffee. This set a positive tone for the day, as we mingled and shared stories. It was heartwarming to see alumni from various classes and programs reconnecting and reminiscing about their university days.

I had engaging conversations with alumni from the classes of '75, '88 and '17, as well as alumni from the EMBA program and the College of Business. These interactions highlighted the diverse range of experiences and achievements of our alumni community. I shared my heritage stories, telling about being from Moldova and Moldavian dishes, and it turned out that Tom, class of '75, visited Romania (neighboring country) this year.

Many shared their golf stories, and as tee times began, we were eager to get on the course. The sense of camaraderie was palpable, with everyone happy to get to know each other and enjoy the opportunity that the tournament presented.

One of the highlights was the lunch delivery right on the course. This was fun and convenient, allowing participants to continue playing without interruption. And it was another chance to socialize and share experiences, further strengthening the bonds among the alumni. The well-maintained course and its scenic beauty and shade trees also added to the enjoyment of the game.

The Business Chapter Golf Tournament was a resounding success. The opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni, share experiences, and enjoy a day of golf in such a beautiful setting was truly memorable. This event not only strengthened our alumni network but also reinforced the sense of community and pride associated with our university. I look forward to participating in future events and continuing to build these valuable connections.
